The art originated in Persia and was introduced in India via Punjab. From then onwards the work is continued and carried out by tribes of Rajasthan. The lakh artwork gained pace after II World War and since then many artists have become indulged in this industry. The best lakh work can be seen in the lakh throne dated back to the 18th century. This throne is now preserved by former Bikaner ruler.
