Exploring the famous tourist destinations of rustic town Bijolia
Bijoliya, a small town located in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan is a famous tourist destination owing to many attractions like Forts and temples. To know the spiritual instinct of Rajasthan people visit Bijoliya. It is situated in the south-east of Bhilwara and it close to borders of the Bundi district. The beautiful town is located at Uparmal plateau which increases its attraction. From Bundi, Bijoliya is located at a distance of 50 kms on Bundi- Chittaurgarh road, and from Kota, the town is 70 kms away. The city is 85 kms away from the Bhilwara- Kota state highway which provides the town a great connectivity.
History of Bijolia:
Known as Vindhyavati during ancient times, Bijoliya has a rich ancient heritage in the form of forts and temples which came into existence during Chauhan dynasty. The Chauhan rulers constructed some of the most beautiful temples especially Shiva temples. Most of the temples have been damaged with the passage of time. The renowned ancient temples which once numbered more than 100 are now just left to 3. These 3 temples serve as the tourist attractions throughout the year and mesmerise them with its design and brilliant architect.
Forts & Temples at Bijolia:
Near Bijolia fort on the eastern side of town, one can find beautiful Shiva temples. The temples are located in the side courtyard of the fort. The temples display some of the unique designs which signify the out of the box thinking during those times. The most prominent Shiva temple is the Hajareshwara Mahadev Temple, which has a high Linga along with hundreds of small lingas. And hence the temple got its name Hajareshwara. The temple is also known as sahastralinga. The temple also has an idol of Lord Ganesha which can be reached through an arch carved inside the temple. The temple also has a pond outside of the temple which is considered quite pious with sacred water.
The other famous Shiva temples of Bijolia are Mahakala and Baijnath. Another tourist attraction at Bijolia is the Undeshwar Mahadev temple which is a famous Shiva temple.
How to reach Bijolia:
If one wishes to travel by Air, the nearest airport will be at Udaipur, which is almost 215 km from Bijolia. Other airports will require to travel a lot.
It is quite easy to reach this town through road since the town has an excellent connectivity. One can get direct buses from Chittaurgarh, Kota, Bhilwara, Udaipur and Neemach.
If one wishes to travel through Railways, the nearest station is Uparmal railway station which is only 10 km away from Bijolia. But owing to poor connectivity it is better to come through Kota or Mandalgarh stations.
